We are poorer, we are more divided, we are being lied to like never before – and, sorry to “talk down the country” Keir, but you know and we know it is all going to get so much worse under this student-politics, never-had-a-proper-job, administration.

“He needs to stop whining about what the last Government did and look at what he is doing,” she snarled, and she’s right… Labour have been in power for a year and Keir Starmer’s default answer to just about any question highlighting his party’s myriad failings is a version of “well you were worse!”

It is puerile and tedious and insults the British Public.

Kemi – and this really irked the PM – correctly pointed out that Starmer’s cabinet is rent asunder, and when he turned around to tell us all how united his MPs were you could almost see the knives sticking out of his back, knives placed there primarily by Deputy PM, Trades Union puppet, and assassin-in-waiting Angela Rayner.

“The deputy Prime Minister is on manoeuvres,” Kemi said, “He has lost control of his cabinet. She is sitting there … but she knew exactly what she was doing when she secretly briefed the papers.”

Mad Ange you see is hell-bent on imposing EIGHT new taxes on you – and particularly pensioners, who seem to be the only people keeping Britain afloat right now. We know this because one of her aides quietly told the Daily Telegraph last night. Keir must have choked on his cornflakes when he read about it this morning.

All of which brings me conveniently to the monumental climb-down, U-turn, capitulation (take your pick), which is Starmer’s humiliation over winter fuel payments. A desperate attempt to keep his party in one piece.

To be fair he caught us all off-guard with the line “We have made tough decisions but the right decisions and the economy is beginning to improve” – laughably trotted out as he prepared to U-turn on the catastrophically damaging Winter Fuel Payments fiasco.

He added, almost shamefaced: “That is why we want to make sure more pensioners are eligible for Winter Fuel Payments.” Eh!? Said a perplexed and disbelieving nation.

And disbelieving is right. Whatever the finer details turn out to be the pensioners will be hit again by some version of Rayner’s tax, you may count on it.

And this is because Rayner and huge swathes of this Government still believe all wealth is wrong and those who are smart enough to make money (or save money) are to be reviled and fleeced.

Oh and today the ONS said inflation had hit 3.5% – almost double the rate the Tories left. And that means about 500 quid on your bills.

Kemi stuck the boot in saying: “The ONS says inflation figures are driven by significant increases in household bills.

“We called last month Awful April – the Prime Minister came to office saying he would tackle the cost of living crisis, something he has failed to do. He doesn’t have a clue.”

Starmer tried to come back with some piffle about how marvelously he was doing and then basically lied.

“She doesn’t mention the growth figures”, he said – and he of course didn’t mention the two quarters of negative growth under Labour.

“She doesn’t mention record investment”, he whinged – and he of course didn’t mention that foreign investment is down 13% since 2023.

“She doesn’t mention wages are up higher than prices” he almost bragged – and he of course didn’t mention this is only true because he used YOUR money to buy-off striking teachers and railwaymen who had repeatedly brought chaos to Britain with massive pay-rises.

And once again Kemi seized and opportunity. “I asked him a simple question which only needed a yes or no, and he couldn’t answer it.

“I wonder how the public will feel about a man who cannot give a straight answer to a simple question.”

Wonder no-more Kemi, as reported on Express.co.uk yesterday Keir’s popularity is running at MINUS 46%. I don’t even know how you can get minus 46% but there we are.

And the majority of those polled giving him a minus score were Labour voters.

So here, in ostensibly democratic Britain, in the third decade of the 21st century, we are ruled by a man and a party less than a third of us voted for, and those who did vote for him now despise him.

And after he sold out our fishermen and every person in Britain who voted for Brexit this week one can only wonder how far away that vote of no confidence must be.
