Marilyn’s personal life was of fascination from early on in her career. For a cover story in a 1952 issue of True Experiences magazine, the caption read: “Do I look happy? I should – for I was a child nobody wanted. A lonely girl with a dream – who awakened to find that dream come true – I am Marilyn Monroe… Read my Cinderella story on page 22.” Her budding romance with baseball player Joe DiMaggio – the couple married in 1954 – also generated Marilyn huge press interest.
